Carinthian State Funding Helps Infrastructure Development In The Ankogel Ski Resort

The Ankogel ski area, which was acquired in June by regional and Croatian investors, is also about to open. To be perfectly prepared and to offer guests a unique winter experience, extensive modernization measures have been implemented.

"Modern infrastructure is essential to remaining attractive to our guests. Measures to modernize our ski areas play a crucial role in this. Only with a wide range of offerings can we maintain our competitiveness as a winter destination," emphasize Provincial Councillor for Tourism Sebastian Schuschnig and Provincial Councillor for Municipalities, Daniel Fellner. A total of around one million euros has been invested in the renewal and expansion of the ski area's infrastructure, of which 250,000 euros were contributed by the Province of Carinthia's "Lake-Mountain-Hiking-Cycling Initiative."

Specifically, the project involved upgrading the snowmaking systems to state-of-the-art technology – thereby increasing energy efficiency, reducing resource consumption, and significantly improving snow quality. Extending the snowmaking lines creates additional slopes, which will particularly benefit beginner skiers and snowboarders. Furthermore, as part of the modernization measures, the existing ski run from the Hannoverhaus to the Ankogel T-bar lift's mountain station was extended. These measures represent the first phase of a long-term modernization plan for the ski area. "Tourism is a dynamic and constantly evolving industry. Investments in modern tourism infrastructure, like the one here at Ankogel, are therefore essential. This not only expands our offerings and enhances the guest experience but also provides important economic stimulus and added value for the entire region," emphasizes Schuschnig.

“For me, sustainable regional development means strengthening our homeland while simultaneously investing boldly in the future. With projects like the one on the Ankogel, we are creating modern infrastructure for guests, securing jobs and quality of life, and giving our region the prospects it deserves. This is how Carinthia remains vibrant, innovative, and attractive for all generations,” said Provincial Councillor Fellner.

The "Lake-Mountain-Hiking-Cycling Initiative" is a joint funding program of the Tourism and Municipal Affairs Departments of the State of Carinthia. Its aim is to support municipalities in the renovation, redesign, and enhancement of public leisure and tourism infrastructure. Since the beginning of the current legislative period, 41 necessary measures and projects have already been supported with a total funding volume of over five million euros.
